Alabama Banker's Wife Abducted For Ransom

FRANKVILLE, Ala. - Law officers were on the lookout Wednesday for a man accused of kidnapping the wife of a rural Alabama banker, forcing her to wear what he described as a remote-controlled bomb and demanding $400,000 ransom from the bank, the Associated Press is reporting

Virginia Beech, wife of Southwest Bank Vice President Ted Beech, was released Tuesday unharmed on a road near Deer Park, a town about 25 miles from her home, without any ransom being paid, authorities told the Mobile Register.
