Will Judge Roy Moore Run As An Independent?

Some Alabama Republicans believe former state Chief Justice Roy Moore will ditch his primary challenge of Gov. Bob Riley and run instead as an independent, according to an editorial in the Huntsville Times. Moore says that's not so, that he's a dedicated Republican and that he'll stay in the race in that capacity.

"In a universe of unlikely scenarios, the one that has Moore defeating Riley in the primary is more unlikely than Moore winning as an independent in November," according to editorial writer John Ehinger. "Yes, the odds would still be against him, but in politics whole careers have been built on nothing more than mere slivers of possibility."
