Letter to the Editor: Vote No Tuesday June 5
Did you know that we go to the polls June 5th in Alabama? Bob Riley (and the mainstream media) doesn't want you to know!
Never have I seen a vote as concealed from the public in Alabama as this one.
Why are we voting?
A combine of two Nazi war criminals (ThyssenKrupp, convicted at the Nuremberg trials) has been lured to Mobile County and the state wants us to continue to bribe them. The state legislature has already "forgiven" massive taxes from the fascist corporation, making certain that the people of Alabama have to pay the taxes due to this "forgiveness" or suffer impoverishment of the state.
Now Riley and the Legislature want to raise the debt limit of the state by $400 million, more than doubling it. This is to continue to bribe ThyssenKrupp with even more taxpayer money.
Those of us in Jefferson County, especially Birmingham, have the steel workers and Mobile doesn't Ours are unionized and South Alabama is low-union, anti union territory. We are being asked to tax ourselves to bribe this company and we will not reap the benefits.
Alabama and Jefferson County have been cash cows for South Alabama since Birmingham was born. They continue to drain us of funds to finance economic development in the South Alabama.
ThyssenKrupp has already agreed to come into South Alabama - why should we pay them or anyone else to come in when they will not benefit us? Indeed, they won't pay taxes to the state!
I am voting NO on Tuesday, June 5, and I hope you do, also. Remember that this vote is not being publicized so as to keep us from voting against it. Beat Riley at his own game.
Vote! and tell others to Vote! And VOTE NO!!!
And don't forget to read Alabama's ONLY progressive on-line newspaper: The Locust Fork News.
